The Electrical Trades Union of Victoria are opposed to the continual restrictions placed on their member’s recreational activities in Victoria and have instigated a political lobby group, the ” Outdoor Recreation Advocacy Group”. As part of this launch over 900 electricians walked off building sites in Victoria  on the 31st March 2023.
The PMAV have contacted the ETU and been welcomed into this lobby group to work together in ensuring ALL Victorians have access to their rights to responsible recreational activities free of over governance and restrictions.

Always in our hearts and minds, Rita Bentley (OAM) who passed away 15th July 2020.
Her amazing lifetime devotion to fight for our rights to maintain access to our public forests on behalf of all bush users as well as the members of PMAV.
The PMAV committee going forward will not lose sight of her efforts as a legacy for her marvellous contribution and dedication into the future.

Minelab, with the nationwide assistance of state organisations representing prospectors, compiled the first of its kind, economic report into prospecting within Australia.
With almost $1Billion in GDP and over 5500 full time jobs, governments would do well to remember our contribution to not only the economy, but to the social and mental health benefits many Australian families get from prospecting.

Shuts MondayEven though there has been some encouraging progress with the establishment of a Great Outdoors Taskforce, VEAC continues with its work to support its flawed preliminary recommendations to create a massive new National Park in the Central Highlands.

Pushing for this park (what they call the Great Forest National Park) is a coalition of anti-use “environment” groups who are headquartered spitting distance from Melbourne University. The inner urban elites were successful in convincing the Victorian Government to close down native timber harvesting. They told the Government that shutting down the industry would protect these forests and appease them…

Here’s the head scratcher - if, as these people argued, the threat to these forests was logging, and logging is gone…what exactly are they now trying to protect public land from?
Is it us recreational users?
Families who like to camp?
Horse riders?
Dog walkers?
Hunters?

Feedback closes Monday for the VEAC survey - get on board and tell them that you value these forests for actually using.

The Eureka Flag and Miner's Right
Created in 1853 to fly as the flag of freedom in the Victorian goldfields, The Eureka Flag symbolises the fight of diggers and the working class against government oppression.
On the 29th November 1854, it flew for the first time over the Eureka Stockade, ripped down four days later by attacking government forces as the diggers stand was shattered.
The Miners’ Right is entwined with the Eureka Flag today.
The PMAV Flag is a variation on the original, displaying the tools which were used to build this state.
Crossed pick and shovel symbolise mine sites and a sign of strength. A connection and admiration to past pioneers and diggers who toiled and fought to bring about reform and the right to work without oppression. In standing under this flag they helped to bring about democracy and build this great nation.
Some groups in our society are actively wanting to diminish the miners right and your rights to access public land.
If this goes ahead we will have lost a major part of our heritage and culture.
The PMAV believes we are the rightful keepers of the heritage of the Eureka Flag.
Other groups may have claimed it as a sign of trade unity or a thumb to oppression, but its roots are in our heritage. Whatever your reason, be proud and fly your flag.
Made in Victoria from quality UV resistant material.
