Mineral Resources Development Act Review
Review of Mining Legislation
Legislative Change
The PMAV Executive is busy working through the current review of the Mineral Resources (Sustainable Development) Act.
This Act governs all mining and prospecting activity in Victoria.
The first round of amendments are now in place. The regulations needed to support these amendments are currently being formed.
A couple of the key changes are that the Miners Right is now available for a 10 year period and the introduction of a new ‘Prospecting Licence’ which will cater for those wishing to mine on areas up to 5 hectares.
With the change in government we will turning to our pre-election wish list, which the then Opposition largely agreed to and seeking relevant legislative change.
